Family Amiidae

Description

The family Amiidae consists of a sole extant genus and species, Amia calva. Commonly referred to as the “bowfin”, “grennel”, “mudfish”, and “blackfish”, this fish is commonly caught by fishermen in slow moving, swampy, or vegetated areas.
